Community and Content Guidelines

Last Updated: October 10, 2026

These guidelines set the standards for content and conduct on Sootru in plain language. They complement, and do not replace, the Acceptable Use Policy (the binding rulebook) and the Terms of Service. Where this friendly summary and the Acceptable Use Policy differ in detail, the Acceptable Use Policy governs.

Sootru exists to make media trustworthy. These guidelines protect that trust and the people who depend on it, including journalists, sources, organizations, and verification agents.

What we expect

  • Be honest about provenance. Use Sootru to capture and share genuine media. Do not try to fake, forge, or tamper with verification data, signatures, watermarks, timestamps, or location, and do not pass off one file's proof as another's.
  • Respect people. Do not capture or share content that harasses, threatens, endangers, or defames a person, or that invades privacy or records people where the law requires their consent. Think especially about the safety of sources and bystanders.
  • Stay lawful. Do not use Sootru for illegal content or activity, including content that depicts or enables serious crime (such as child sexual abuse material, terrorism, or trafficking), or content that infringes copyright or other rights.
  • Be yourself. Do not impersonate another person or organization. Creator display names are checked to resist impersonation and confusable names; do not try to defeat that.
  • Submit in good faith. When you send media to an organization, make genuine, relevant submissions. Do not spam, flood, or mislead.
  • For organizations: handle submitter and agent data responsibly, use contact details only for the matter they relate to, keep identities confidential, and review fairly, never to target or discriminate against someone. See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full rules.

What is not allowed

A short list of the most serious breaches (the full list is in the Acceptable Use Policy): illegal or harmful content; forging or tampering with proof; invading privacy or unlawful recording; harassment or endangerment; impersonation; infringing others' rights; and abusing or attacking the Service.

Reporting

If you see content or behaviour that breaks these guidelines, tell us at support@becvora.com. For copyright specifically, use the Copyright and Takedown Policy.

How we enforce

Depending on severity and context, we may remove or disable access to content, warn or restrict an account, block a contributor, or suspend or terminate access, as set out in the Terms of Service. We try to act proportionately, but we may act immediately where there is a risk to people, to the integrity of verification, or of legal liability. Decisions can be appealed by contacting support@becvora.com.
