Becvora respects intellectual property rights and expects users of Sootru (the "Service") to do the same. This policy explains how a rights holder can notify us of content that infringes their copyright, how we respond, and how an affected user can object. It is part of our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
Because Sootru hosts user-provided material, for that material we act as an online service provider ("OSP"). This policy is designed to meet the notice-and-takedown provisions of the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022 and, for any United States nexus, the notice-and-takedown provisions of the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
1. Designated contact
Send copyright notices and counter-notices to copyright@becvora.com, marked for the attention of the Copyright Agent, Becvora.
2. How to file a takedown notice
A valid notice must be in writing and include:
- your name, address, and contact details, and whether you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
- identification of the specific infringing material on the Service and enough information for us to locate it (for example the verification page URL, a submission reference, or a creator profile);
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of the applicable law, that you are authorised to act;
- your physical or electronic signature.
Incomplete notices may delay our response; we may ask you for the missing information.
3. What we do on receipt
On receiving a valid notice we will, acting in line with the Copyright Act 2022:
- promptly notify the user who provided the material (the "subscriber") and pass on the notice;
- give the subscriber a short opportunity to justify the upload; and
- take down or disable access to the identified material within 48 hours of the notice unless the subscriber provides adequate justification within that time.
Because some Sootru data is immutable by design, note that a hash anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain cannot be removed by anyone, including us; it contains only a hash and no media. We can remove the media, preview, and verification-page display we control.
4. Counter-notice
If your material was removed and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the designated contact that includes: your details; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement, under penalty of the applicable law, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate Nigerian court (and, for a DMCA matter, the relevant US court); and your signature. If we receive a valid counter-notice and the complainant does not pursue the matter within the period the law allows, we may restore the material.
5. Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, limit, suspend, or terminate the accounts or access of users who are repeat infringers, as contemplated by the Copyright Act 2022.
6. Misuse of this process
Submitting a false or bad-faith notice or counter-notice may expose you to liability under the Copyright Act 2022 and other law. Use this process only for genuine copyright matters; other complaints (privacy, defamation, acceptable-use breaches) should go to support@becvora.com or follow the relevant policy.
7. Other rights
For trademark, privacy, publicity, or data-protection complaints, contact legal@becvora.com (or privacy@becvora.com for data-protection matters). Removal under this policy does not limit any other remedy available to a rights holder or to us under the Terms.
